Bopflix Sessions: January (Part B)

Here we go again some more Bopflix videos that were released this month:

A great little tune by Lynette Morgan and the Blackwater Valley Boys. They have some real nice western swing flavour here and the songs full of character and love the steel guitar solo.A new band to us and we look forward to hearing some more of there tunes.

As we approach the 3rd of February ( The Day The Music Died ) its nice to see another Stratocaster ( the electric guitar) being used. Stratocasters are being overlooked more and more these days and almost forgotten in place of the Gretsch arch tops and the Telecaster. Aside from that a real nice classic sounding tune from these guys !!

Well you can’t go wrong with The Doggone Honkabillies. (enough said ! )

Yet more steel guitar with this video by the Lightning Ranch Boys !! Great to see some nice classic gear like that lovely Gibson Jumbo. Sort of reminds me of something that Hank Williams would of sang. If you watch closely you can also see Mr Bopflix himself (Chris Magee) in the mirror !!

Sharna-Mae And The Mayhems – Love Drunk – Western Star

Yet another great young rockabilly band, Sharna-Mae and The Mayhems burst onto the rockabilly scene, releasing there debut album “Love Drunk” on the top record label, Western Star, to much praise (including famous radio presenter Bob Harris).

Twelve tracks of pure vintage styled music. If you like twangy guitars, powerful vocals, thumping bass and driving drums its well worth a listen. They may be young but they are certainly up to the standard and easily better than many older bands.

The name would suggest they are heavily inspired by Imelda May however from listening there is plenty more different influences in there. A powerful Rockabilly voice with a dash of classic Country.

Pretty cool video too if I do say so !! We also look forward watching them develop into the premier band on the scene !!

Don’t hesitate just buy the album !!!!
